X by 2 Hosts WomenHack Detroit Recruiting Event to Uplift Women in Tech

Promoting diversity in tech doesn’t have to be a daunting initiative. For X by 2, it starts with building strong local networks and community.

On March 28, X by 2 had the pleasure of hosting a Detroit-based recruiting and networking event in collaboration with WomenHack. Honoring their mission to connect women across all fields of tech, WomenHack invited job-prospecting women and recruiters from X by 2, Marelli, Rocket Companies and Rocket Travel to engage in rapid interviews, learn more about local hiring opportunities and, primarily, meet one another.

“Hosting a WomenHack event at our company was an incredible experience,” said Jordan Biebuyck, Head of Recruiting at X by 2, “Seeing women from diverse backgrounds networking seamlessly throughout the evening was a powerful reminder of the impact of fostering inclusivity in tech.”

The night began with light networking in the X by 2 home office, and the event officially kicked-off with the WomenHack welcome address, followed by company spotlights from sponsor organizations. X by 2 senior consultant Joanna Garrett was given the floor, where she spoke to her experiences as a young woman in tech, both at X by 2 and within the broader technology community.

The focal point of this event was a series of rapid interviews, where each attendee made their rounds in 5-minute intervals with each employer. Candidates waiting to interview were funneled into the networking area, where they continued chatting with others. While the main purpose of the event was recruiting, the real value seemed to come from the connections the women fostered.

“The networking space was so lively! It was great to see — and hear from the attendees themselves about how valuable the event was,” said Biebuyck, “It’s moments like these that drive us to continue supporting initiatives that champion diversity and equality in the workplace.”

Building a more equitable and diverse workforce is an ongoing effort, and X by 2 recruiting is excited to continue making headway. X by 2 will be hosting a Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT) ConnectNet event on May 16. Those interested in learning more and registering can do so here.
